About this event

Do you want to include more people with learning disabilities in your work, in ways that are accessible and work for them? Join Healthwatch Essex on a two-part programme of learning, support and action planning. They will share with you their approach to involving people with a learning disability that have been successful in their area, and they will help you to agree next steps to start to replicate their approach, or explore one of your own.

Please note you need to be able to attend both sessions as this is a two-part course:

Session 1 – 23 September 2021, 10am to 12pm

Session 2 – 23 November 2021, 10am to 12pm

 

Who is this event for?

Healthwatch leaders and staff members who are committed to involving more people with learning disabilities in their work, in a long term and sustainable way and want to learn from other local Healthwatch to develop their approach.

 

What will you learn?

You will learn:

In session 1 you will learn about Healthwatch Essex’s model of inclusion which includes:

  • partnership working with a local hospital
  • recruiting and training learning disability ambassador volunteers
  • co-production approach with Healthwatch, the learning disability ambassadors and the hospital patient experience team
  • producing accessible resources to support the volunteers

You will also learn about the steps to take to replicate this approach and the outcomes that have been achieved.

In session 2 you will share your progress including any successes and challenges in delivering your own action plan.
