About this event
As part of the Healthwatch England three-year equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) strategy, we are offering a number of lead officers the opportunity to participate in action learning sets. Open to all local Healthwatch lead officers who have not yet taken part, these aim to support peers to share and explore strategic and operational challenges in implementing and developing equality, diversity, and inclusion approaches in their organisations.
Our lead officer action learning sets will provide you with dedicated, regular space for thinking, connecting and problem solving to help you address challenges and maximise how your Healthwatch approaches and develops its strategic thinking and planning on EDI, and how you can most effectively support and direct operational EDI delivery.
Each set brings together a group of up to seven lead officers from different Healthwatch organisations with an action learning facilitator. The group then "contract" to meet (digitally) for a three-hour session, six times over a six-month period.
Set members must attend all six sessions
Please note you need to be able to attend all 6 sessions of the course which all run from 10 am to 1 pm:
Session 1 – 30th November 2021
Session 2 - 5th January 2022
Session 3 - 2nd February 2022
Session 4 - 1st March 2022
Session 5 - 5th April 2022
Session 6 - 3rd May 2022
Who is this event for?
Healthwatch lead officers who can attend all six sessions and commit to actions between each session
What will you learn?
An action learning set follows a facilitated structure with one member of the set presenting a real EDI challenge for their board/organisation. These could include:
- how to diversify your board to better reflect the communities your Healthwatch serves
- how your board can use the Quality Framework to support EDI progress
- how your board can embed EDI at strategic level to support the sustainability of your Healthwatch.
Through listening, sharing, and the asking of open questions by other set members, the process will support you to reflect and develop new solutions or ways forward.
