Understanding the health and social care system e-learning
About this course
This is a bespoke e-learning course for Healthwatch staff which will give you a broad understanding of England's health and care system.
It covers changes announced recently, including the merging of NHS England with the Department of Health and Social Care and changes to integrated care systems.
Who is the course for?
This course is for all Healthwatch staff who want a basic knowledge of the health and social care system. It can also act as a refresher for those with more detailed knowledge.
How long will it take, and what does it involve?
This e-learning course will take you about 60 minutes to complete. Please book out that length of time to finish the course in one sitting for the best learning experience, but you can save your work and return to it if you need to.
The course is divided into clear sections and comprises of a mixture of:
- Information to read.
- Videos to watch.
- Interactive activities.
- Short tests of learning.
Once you have completed the course, you can leave feedback and download your certificate.

• What social care is and how people access it.
• Public health and why it's important.
