One of the best ways to give Healthwatch a strong collective voice is by working with the national, local and trade media to:
• amplify the voices of patients and service users
• raise the profile of Healthwatch and highlight the work it does, and
• influence discussions around the future of health and social care
The 3.5 hour virtual sessions will take place in groups of less than four people, with trainer Scott Hamilton and an observer from Healthwatch England.
Scott will help you learn more about how the media works and build practical media interview skills through techniques including mock interviews.
By the end of the session, you will have the skills and knowledge to be confident in dealing with media interviews, both while representing your own Healthwatch and when talking about wider Healthwatch campaigns.

Who is this event for?
This training session is currently open only to Healthwatch lead officers/chairs or representatives who have specifically agreed to act as potential media spokespeople in relation to Healthwatch campaigns.
You may have already taken part in interview training and have extensive experience of real media interviews, however you may well find updated training to refresh your skills and reflect developments in the industry beneficial.
