This is a quarterly meeting for people in the network to come together and support each other on their Equality, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (EDEI) journey.
The topic for this meeting is inclusive language.
Inclusive language is a way of communicating that aims to avoid expressions or words that might exclude or marginalise certain groups of people. It focuses on using terms that are respectful and considerate of all individuals, regardless of their gender, race, disability, age, or other characteristics. It is crucial for fostering a sense of belonging and respect among diverse groups of people

What will you learn?
Inclusive language can be a challenging and sensitive topic and people can often question: am I saying the right thing? how do we keep up to date with new language? How do I address clumsy or offensive language when I observe it?
In this 60-minute session, we will discuss:
• Inclusive language principles and inclusive terms
• Micro-incivilities, stereotypes and unconscious bias
• The limits of workplace banter
• Addressing non-inclusive language
