About this event

This session will introduce the way that councils manage health and care services (including social care and Public Health).

We will focus on how you can work with different parts of your local council to influence decisions and make change.

Type of event

This will be an online session which will be a mix of information, discussion and interactive elements.

Please keep your camera on if possible and be prepared to take part.

Who is this event for?

This event is for anyone in Healthwatch who works with local councils, either in attending events, writing reports about council services or seeking to influence change.

What you will learn?

By taking part in this session, you will:

  • understand how social care is organised and funded and how it is organised both locally and nationally.
  • learn about Healthwatch England’s role in social care and how we work with the network.
  • understand about public health and the wider relevant activities of councils.
  • know how to work with your council to represent local views. This will include scrutiny committees, health and wellbeing boards and local councillors.
