About this event

This session will introduce you to the way that the NHS works and is organised. We will focus on how you can work with different parts of the NHS in your area to influence decisions and make change. 

The session will have a particular focus on how to work with your local and system level organisations in the NHS, as opposed to national bodies which Healthwatch England works with.

Type of event

This will be an online session which will be a mix of information, discussion and interactive elements.

Who is this event for?

This event is for anyone in Healthwatch who works with the NHS, either in attending events, writing reports about NHS services or seeking to influence change

What you will learn?

By taking part in this session, you will:

  • understand how the NHS’ budget is allocated and how it is organised both locally and nationally including Integrated Care Systems and NHS trusts.
  • learn about the various responsibilities of NHS provider organisations including NHS trusts, Primary Care Networks and GP practices.
  • know how to work with the NHS in order to represent patient views.
