Many of you requested support with income generation in the 2024 learning needs survey.
This session is part one of a two-part course. It will help you gain the skills and confidence to retender for your Healthwatch contract and to make the most of commissioned opportunities to generate additional income for your Healthwatch.

Type of event
This course is for a group of 20 people and will include presentations, information sharing and plenty of time for Q&A.
You will get the most out of the session by joining in the discussion with your camera on.
Who is this event for?
Healthwatch managers and board members who are responsible for bid writing and income generation
What will you learn?
By taking part in this training, you will:
- understand the 3 components of a tender and receive example questionnaires & frameworks
- know what we mean by social value and the different approaches by Local Authorities (LAs)
- be introduced to quality questions and method statements with examples of how different quality questions can be between LAs and strategies for responding
- be able to self-assess your readiness for tendering
- understand types of opportunities such as Healthwatch England project funding and local commissioned engagement work
- know how to decide whether to take on an opportunity
- think through governance, resourcing, costing your time, the impact on your core contract and use of brand, ownership of outputs and VAT and financial implications of commissioned work
- receive practical handouts and checklists to take away and use
- be able to ask questions and receive support from the experienced trainer and your peers
Who is running this event?
Steve Innet was the CEO of Healthwatch Kent for over six years. Since then he has helped a number of local Healthwatch successfully tender for their contracts and has recently developed an Income generation strategy with a local Healthwatch. He is an experienced trainer and consultant.
