About this event
This session will outline the important roles of local Councillors and MPs in the health and care system and show you in practical terms how you can work effectively them to influence decisions and promote your work.
This session will not cover wider details about how health and social care are organised, so we recommend taking our e-learning course Understanding the health and social care system beforehand. It should take no more than an hour.

This will be an online session which will be a mix of information, discussion and interactive elements.
Please keep your camera on if possible and be prepared to take part.
Who is this event for?
This event is for anyone in Healthwatch who works with local Councillors or MPs, whether in promoting reports or events, local engagement or responding to issues raised with Healthwatch.
What you will learn?
By taking part in this session, you will:
- know about the role of local councillors in your area and how to work effectively with to represent local views. This will include on scrutiny committees, health and wellbeing boards
- understand the roles your local MPs may play in health and care and how to effectively work with them to promote your work, share insight and get help with local issues
- be able to ask questions and get support from our friendly Policy team.
